New Pillow Cover for Me from Alamosa Quilter

I shared this idea with you previously in July. Click here to read that post. I finally got it finished!

Here is what it looks like all stitched but not sewn into a pillow cover yet.

Finished Pillow Front

For those of you who are curious, here is what the back looks like before I sewed it up into a pillow cover.

Back of stitched pillow

I cut a piece of batting the finished size I needed the pillow to be. Next time I would cut the batting about an inch larger than the finished size. I added the fabric directly on top of the batting and ...

New Pillows from Alamosa Quilter

Last week was rugs, this week it's pillows.

Two pillows

Both of these are 18" pillows. I'm working on writing up the pattern and then I plan to make up some kits using these exact fabrics and then probably some other fabric combinations.

The first one I made is the blue one at the back in the photo above.

18" pillow using Winter Solstice Fabric collection

This pillow is made from the Winter Solstice fabric collection. It has an envelope back and the outside edge is finished with binding just like you'd do for a quilt.

The front pillow shown in the first photo above is ...

Taking an idea to the next level from Alamosa Quilter

I've been playing with this idea of scraps and hand stitching for a while. So far I've only made small projects, pin cushions to be precise. Now I'm going to try making a larger project, a pillow for my chair. It will finish at 16" by 16".

start of my hand stitched scrap pillow

Above you can see the layout I have chosen using scraps from my scrap basket. I have everything cut to fit and pinned in place. There is batting underneath the fabrics. When I made the pin cushions I just laid the fabrics loosely where I wanted them, took a picture ...

New Pillow :: A Finish from Alamosa Quilter

I turned a mistake into a new pillow.

New flannel star pillow

It measures 16" by 16" with an envelope back.

This star was originally made as the center for my Flannel Plaid Star Quilt. However, I seriously miscalculated and this star was way too small for the center of the quilt. I just threw into a bin and made a correct sized center star for the quilt. When I was cleaning my office recently I found this block and decided to turn it into a new pillow for my house. All that was required was a little simple quilting and making the envelope ...

Gnome Saying? from Mama Spark's World

I finished my gnome pillow cover and I could not be happier with how he turned out.  I used the Clarence the Gnome pattern by Moss and Lotus for the paper pieced gnome and then made my own pillow cover using the gnome for the center.I didn't have enough of the low volume fabric or the blue from the front to use for the back.I chose the navy with aqua accents for on the back.I used the gnome

A Few More Makes from Mama Spark's World

I have been sewing like crazy but most has been for gifts.  I will show a few things I have made that I can show.  I don't think the people I made them for read my blog so I should be safe, LOL. I made another Nightingale quilt using the Dorothy's Journey fabric.  I just finished binding it!  I have not taken a photo of the finished quilt yet though.  Michigan weather has NOT been cooperating
