What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

 Last week was rugs, this week it's pillows.

Both of these are 18" pillows. I'm working on writing up the pattern and then I plan to make up some kits using these exact fabrics and then probably some other fabric combinations.

The first one I made is the blue one at the back in the photo above.

This pillow is made from the Winter Solstice fabric collection. It has an envelope back and the outside edge is finished with binding just like you'd do for a quilt.

 I've been playing with this idea of scraps and hand stitching for a while. So far I've only made small projects, pin cushions to be precise. Now I'm going to try making a larger project, a pillow for my chair. It will finish at 16" by 16".

Above you can see the layout I have chosen using scraps from my scrap basket. I have everything cut to fit and pinned in place. There is batting underneath the fabrics. When I made the pin cushions I just laid the fabrics loosely where I wanted them, took a picture ...

I finished my gnome pillow cover and I could not be happier with how he turned out.  I used the Clarence the Gnome pattern by Moss and Lotus for the paper pieced gnome and then made my own pillow cover using the gnome for the center.I didn't have enough of the low volume fabric or the blue from the front to use for the back.I chose the navy with aqua accents for on the back.I used the gnome

I have been sewing like crazy but most has been for gifts.  I will show a few things I have made that I can show.  I don't think the people I made them for read my blog so I should be safe, LOL. I made another Nightingale quilt using the Dorothy's Journey fabric.  I just finished binding it!  I have not taken a photo of the finished quilt yet though.  Michigan weather has NOT been cooperating
